Steps To Decarboxylate CBD Flower
Start by preheating your oven to 325 degrees fahrenheit. Once the oven is preheated, add your CBD flower. Bake for 25 minutes at 325 degrees fahrenheit. You can choose to bake for less or more time depending on desired potency and what you're using this CBD butter for (sublingual use will require a higher amount of CBD). Then, turn off the oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes. The CBD flower will go from a greenish color to a slightly golden brown/green color which signifies decarboxylation.
Melting Butter With CBD Flower
Butter time! Now that your CBD flower has been baked it's time to add the butter you will be using. We used salted butter, but feel free to use unsalted. The next step is where you have the most control over your final product. You can choose to add as little or as much CBD flower as you'd like - just keep in mind that the more flower that goes into your CBD butter, the more potent your final product will be.
So we're going to melt the butter slowly over medium-low heat. You can speed up this process by microwaving in 15-20 sec intervals until melted. Then, grind up your CBD flower and add it into the pot with your butter. The last step is to cook over low heat for about 1 hour. Stir frequently to avoid burning or sticking. You can now pour into a storage container or use immediately! There a multiple foods you can used CBD butter in. The most common would be sweets like brownies, cookies, rice crispy treats etc. Butter can also be used in other foods then sweets as well. CBD butter on toasted French bread is one of our all time favorites or try adding onto a cinnamon bagel for a extra added morning boost!
If you decide to use an alternate cooking method, make sure to keep the temperature at around 300 degrees Fahrenheit. If you do not have a thermometer, wait until all of the butter has melted to ensure that the temperature is correct.
If you are using an alternative cooking method, make sure to cook your CBD butter for at least 3 hours or more depending on desired potency before checking if it is done.
Using CBD flower will result in a stronger, more robust flavor than using hash or kief. Using less CBD flower will result in a smoother and more subtle flavor.
The best way to get the perfect ratio for your CBD butter is to experiment and see what you like best. You will also need to take into consideration how strong you want the final product to be and what you'll use it for.
Remember: the more flower, the stronger and more robust the flavor of your butter!
